Cantina Moscone

my story

I would like to relive my childhood a million times.

When I visited my grandpa in his farmstead. When I ran amongst the rows of vines and picked the grapes, smudging my fingers.

We used a rubber hose to bottle the wine, and you needed to suck hard from the demijohns, until you felt the liquid in your mouth: sour, strong, with an unaccountably sweet touch. Some days, I went to the village by bike to go to buy groceries. I was seven or eight years old, but I felt grown up and useful.

I felt free.

Today, with the valuable cooperation of my cousin Marco, I make wine in the wake of those feelings.

I studied law and I used to work in a law firm. But I decided to come back home, to my roots, to be my real self.

For me, wine is an ancient world, but always new.

It's an ever-evolving relationship with the three generations of farmers who came before me: my great-grandfather Giacinto, the founder of the company; my grandfather Angelo, who learned about the best locations to plant the vineyards; my father Livio and his brothers Giacinto and Mariano, who taught me this job and who had the extraordinary opportunity of farming the most important cru in Monforte d’Alba, Bussia.

Wine flows in my family's past, but I am its future.

It stands for what I was and it guides what I will do tomorrow. I am aware that there is no “right” path, only “my” path. And I know I can tread it with the wonderful freedom I have always relished in these hills.

I work with my cousin Marco Moscone, a real enthusiast of vineyards, who follows most of the agronomic side of the business.
